A patient / carer perspective on the General Practice Nursing Award

I am writing to say how great the Celebrating General Practice Nursing across Greater Manchester awards opportunity is. From a patient/carer perspective I find this initiative brilliant. Our nurses work very hard and support us. Some of them go that extra mile to support us. My mother has been in and out of hospital over the last few years and I have been reassured by the support that has been provided, from nurses who spoke in her native language who listened to her to those who didn't but still managed to understand and support her, who administered appropriate medication and care.

Our nurses work long hours, do extra training, go above and beyond their job roles to support patients.  I have seen so many exemplary nurses who support GPs and other practice staff very professionally, efficiently and effectively. They show exceptional empathy, kindness and care to patients, which I believe helps to improve their health a great deal. These exceptional nurses need to be recognised and celebrated and this event sounds so exciting and perfect for this.
